A SHOOTING in Orsett on Tuesday afternoon involved a father and his son, the Echo understands.

One man, aged in his 60s, died and another, aged in his 40s, is in a critical condition following the incident in Hemley Road, Orsett yesterday afternoon.

Sources have told the Echo the man police found dead is the father of the man taken to a London hospital.

Police remain with him in hospital. His condition is said to be critical but stable.

The Essex and Kent Serious Crime Directorate were called to what they have described a "domestic incident" at around 3pm yesterday.

The estate was cordoned off, with dozens of residents unable to return hom while police launched a major investigation.

One man was declared dead at the scene and a firearm was recovered.

No arrests were made and police have confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. Investigations are ongoing.

DI Martin Pasmore, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: "We understand that the two men involved are known to each other. At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident."
