CALLOUS thieves have left a mum devastated after they broke into her home and stole items belonging to her dead daughter.

Wendy Davies, 44, is still trying to get over the shock of suddenly losing her 27-year-old daughter Charlotte.

Burglars raided her home, in Prince Avenue, Westcliff, stealing sentimental jewellery and a laptop containing pictures of Charlotte.

Devastated Wendy said: “I lost my daughter in August this year – she wasn’t feeling very well and kept getting headaches, so we took her to hospital and they found she had a brain tumour and cancer. She died four days later.

“I’d been wearing her necklace with a sovereign attached to it for months, and the night before the burglary I’d gone for a meal and took it off before bed.

“It was the first time I’d taken it off since Charlotte died.

Having it stolen was heartwrenching – the jewellerywas all I had left.

“I was devastated about the laptop as well, because it had everything to do with my daughter on it and I didn’t have the chance to save it to a disc.”

A bracelet and earrings belonging to Charlotte were also taken, as well as an Apple iPad2, HP black laptop, a HP red laptop and a Playstation 3 console.

Wendy lives with her partner, Owen, and eldest son, Lee, but was home alone when she discovered the burglary.

She said: “When I walked in, I noticed there was a mess in the kitchen, so I called my partner, but he said he hadn’t been home.

I walked into the lounge and saw everything upturned. When they got home we all just stood there with our mouths open – we were all so shocked.”

Wendy says she would love to be reunited with the jewellery.

She said: “My heart’s breaking enough, so it would mean the world to me to get them back. I feel like I was robbed of my daughter and now I’ve been robbed of the things I remember her by.”

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to the burglary, on Monday, November 25.
