KIND-HEARTED neighbours are rallying round to save a little boy’s Christmas after burglars snatched his presents from under his tree.

The crooks broke in to the house where Nicola Jenkins, 21, and her three-year-old son, Oskar live, in Somercotes, Laindon, on Sunday evening.

They ransacked the home before taking Oskar’s presents from under the Christmas tree, as well as his mum’s jewellery and a jewellery box.

It was doubly cruel on Oskar who also celebrates his birthday on Christmas Day.

Neighbours in the Facebook group, Basildon Free 4 All, heard about the break-in and have now started a raffle to raise cash to replace some of the presents.

Organiser and group administrator, Tracey Sarosh, 48, said: “We heard about the break-in last week and just thought it was absolutely disgusting that someone could take presents that were clearly for a child.

“We decided as a group that we had to do something to help get this little boy’s Christmas back and decided the best way to do that was to start a raffle.

“We have been absolutely overwhelmed with support. We have had lots and lots of donations for raffle prizes.

“Everyone has really come together to help this little boy and his mum.”

Raffle tickets are being sold through the Facebook group and cost £1.50 each. The group is also looking for help for anyone who might be able to donate a raffle prize.

The raffle will be drawn later this week.
