RAYLEIGH High Street was closed to traffic earlier this afternoon as firefighters tackled a blaze at a chicken takeaway shop.

Two crews from Rayleigh Weir Fire Station put out the small kitchen fire at Favourite Fried Chicken after being called around midday.

It took them 25 minutes to put out the blaze.

The road was closed to traffic while it happened and local buses were diverted.
