SANTA really did come to town this week after parents gave their daughter born on Christmas Day the festive name.

Jessica Santa Abrahall, of Pitsea , was among 14 babies born in Southend and Basildon on Wednesday.

 

Mum Dawn Schultz, whose partner David Abrahall came up with the idea, said: “It’s a bit of a silly name really.

“I suppose she can dress up as Santa.”

Midwives at Basildon Hospital made 10 special Christmas deliveries and there were four at Southend Hospital.

Effie Tubman, 6lb 7oz Parents: Emily, 27, and James, 29, Tubman of Rookery View, Grays

NEWBOARN Effie Tubman will always have her family around her on her birthday after she was born on Christmas Day.

Mum Emily, 27, of Rookery View, Grays, gave birth to Effie at Basildon Hospital at 9.31pm on Wednesday.

Mrs Tubman said: “I wasn’t hoping to have her on Christmas day, but I’m glad she has come.

“It will be nice for her to have her birthday at Christmas because she will always have her family around her.”

Effie has a two-year-old older sister called Kyra.

Faith Nora Farrar, 7lb 8oz Parents: Emma Martin, 34, and Paul Farrar, 27, of Cherrydown East, Basildon  

FAITH Nora Farrar was named after her grandmother – and a tattoo.

Parents Emma Martin, 34, and Paul Farrar, 27, of Cherrydown, East, Basildon, have always liked the name “Faith” and Mr Farrar has “Keep the faith” tattooed on his arm.

They gave her the name “Nora” after her father’s mother.

Emma said: “It’s going to be weird to have her birthday on Christmas Day, but it’s exciting.

“It’s going to be mental, but I’m very, very happy.

“I’m pleased she is here.”

Faith was born at Basildon Hospital at 10.54am on Wednesday weighing 7lb 8oz.

ONE family has ensured Father Christmas always visits their house - by calling their new baby daughter “Santa”.

Dawn Schultz, 43, and David Abrahall, of Pitsea Mount, Pitsea, have given their daughter Jessica the festive middle name after she was born on Christmas Day.

Dawn said: “We thought about ‘Holly’ or ‘Mary’ – but they were too obvious.

“We checked and it’s a proper name.”

The couple’s first daughter, Liza-Poppy, was born on December 20 two years ago.

Dawn, a singer, said: “We were a bit disappointed when she wasn’t born on Christmas Day because we thought it would be exciting, but our second has done it.”

Jessica was born at Basildon Hospital at 11.37am weighing 7lb 12oz.

Laura Kafeczuk, 9lb 3oz Parents: Joanna, 28, and Rafal Kafeczuk of Prospect Place, Grays

DECEMBER 25 will have be divided in two so Laura Kafeczuk can celebrate her birthday and Christmas with her family.

Mum Joanna Kafeczuk, 28, of Prospect Place, Grays, says she will make sure the family celebrates both occasions after giving birth on Christmas Day.

Joanna said: Next year it will be expensive at Christmas for both occasions – birthday and Christmas.

“I felt happy because Christmas is a beautiful day.

“We will probably split the day into two halves.”

Laura, who has a 20-month-old brother, Alexander, was born at Basildon Hospital at 4.22am weighing 9lb 3oz.

John-Henry, 8lb 9oz Parent Mary Varey, 28, of Basildon

MARY Varey gave birth to her son John-Henry on Christmas Day – six years after giving birth to his sister on New Year’s Day.

Mary, of Basildon, is shocked after giving birth to the second of her four children on a public holiday.

The 28-year-old said: “I’m surprised. He was eight days late.

“He’s number four and his sister, Emily Rose, was born on New Year’s Day.”

John-Henry was the first child to be born at Basildon Hospital this year(2013), being delivered at 1.20am.

He weighed 8lb 9oz.

Mary thanked her midwife, Jo, and all the hospital staff.

Amelia Byrne, 7lb Parents: Lily O’Brien and Connor Byrne , of Greenways, Rochford

LILY O’Brien and her partner Connor Byrne, of Greenways, Rochford, got the best present they could have wished for when their daughter was born on Christmas Day.

Daughter Amelia was born to the couple at Southend Hospital at 1.12am on Wednesday.

Lily said: “It was amazing to be honest with you.

“She’s the best Christmas present my partner and I could get.”

The couple have vowed to ensure Amelia’s birthday doesn’t get lost in Christmas celebrations.

Lily said: “It’s going to be amazing. We’re going to make an event of it.

“We’ll make sure we celebrate both of them.”

Amelia was 7lb exactly.

No name yet, 6lb 15oz Parents: Stacey Wakeling, 24, and Craig Walsingham, 25, of Brightwell Avenue, Westcliff

THE parents of this little boy were excited to have had a special delivery at 7pm on Christmas Day.

At first, Stacey Wakeling, 24, and Craig Walsingham, 25, of Brightwell Avenue, Westcliff, were nervous their son would be born on Christmas Day.

But now he is here, the couple are really pleased.

Craig said: “We didn’t want the birth to be at Christmas leading up to the day, but now we are excited it’s on Christmas Day.”

But Stacey and Craig plan to make sure Christmas never overshadows his birthday – by having another celebration.

Stacey said: “It’s really special. It’s going to be different, but we will probably celebrate halfway through the year as well.”

They have yet to name their son.
