A SAINSBURY’S shopper has advised Nectar card users to be on their guard after £90 of her points were used without her knowledge.

Carla Bevan 56, of Templewood Road, Hadleigh, visited the supermarket in Rayleigh Weir only to discover the 18,000 points she had amassed had been used up three days previously in the store, while she was at work.

The store has since found CCTV footage recorded at 6.17pm on December 14 of a woman they believe used the points, but it is still unclear how the thief was able to do so.

Ms Bevan said: “I had my card in my purse the whole time and only got it out of my handbag when I went to the supermarket.”

The incident has been reported to Action Fraud, an agency operating out of the Home Office and City of London Police, although neither would comment on whether it was being investigated.

A Sainsbury’s spokesman said: “We are arranging for Ms Bevan to receive the points back on a new card and will, of course, help the police if they decide to investigate this matter.”

A Nectar spokesman said the company would be investigating the incident.
