A WOMAN was hit by a car outside Billericay railway station, seriously injuring her.
Emergency services rushed to Radford Way at around 5.15pm, after a woman - believed to be in her seventies - was hit.
Police have arrested a 19-year-old, from Billericay, in connection with the incident.
The woman, who is also from Billericay, was taken to Basildon Hospital.
Radford Way was closed and cordoned off between the BP garage and Radford Crescent for several hours.
Large queues built up in both direction and motorists were told to avoid the area.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Essex Police on 101 and ask for Sgt Mark Ammon or his colleagues at the Laindon road policing office.
