A DIE-HARD West Ham fan is walking-the-walk for five days to raise money for a charity dedicated to his footballing hero, Bobby Moore.

Kas Omer, 47, will be joining fellow football fans on a march from the centre circle of Southend United’s Roots Hall stadium to the centre circle of Upton Park, West Ham’s ground, next month.

It will raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund.

Kas, who lives in Thisselt Road, Canvey, will be walking the 50 miles over five days in a journey that will take him across Southend, Basildon, Billericay, and Hornchurch.

The group will arrive at Upton Park on Saturday, February 22 – the day the team play Southampton in a crunch Premier League clash.

Fans are travelling from as far as Norway, Italy and even Australia to take part in the trek.

Kas, who has been a season ticket holder for 16 years, said: “Bobby Moore was an icon for club and country and it is a pleasure to walk in his memory whilst raising money for Cancer Research.

“I would expect there to be around 200 people taking part, although not all of them will complete the five days.

“I hope we can get a win against Southampton on the day then it will be great for the fans who have travelled from afar and even better for the team to get some points on the board.”

Bobby Moore, who died in 1993 aged 51 from bowel and liver cancer, is revered by Hammers fans after he appeared for the club more than 540 times and was England’s World Cup winning captain in 1966.
