FAMILIES can get free energy saving tips this week.

South Essex Homes, which manages Southend Council’s housing stock, will be offering free advice on how to save energy at drop-in sessions around the borough.

Tomorrow, the energy officer will be at Asda, in North Shoebury Road, Shoebury, from 10am until noon, and at the Store House, in Coleman Street, Southend, from 1.30pm to 3pm.

On Friday, a final session will be held at Cafe@theSquare, in Cluny Square, Southchurch, from 10am until 1pm.

The energy officer will also visit schools during the afternoon school run to speak to parents.

Daniel Greenwood, project planning and energy team leader for South Essex Homes, said: “As an organisation, South Essex Homes is dedicated to helping tenants minimise their energy bills by getting on the best tariff for them and by developing more energy efficient habits.

“We appreciate that these messages can be difficult to convey – so rather than expecting people to come to us for help, we decided to get out into local neighbourhoods to deliver our expert advice directly to residents.”
