A CHARITY is celebrating a £32,000 cash injection to extend its vital work in the community.

The Trinity Family Centre, in Westcliff, was awarded the cash – a share of money from the People’s Health Trust – which has been split between Essex charity groups.

Trinity Family Centre already runs a parent and toddler club, a holiday club for schoolchildren, after-school clubs, a pop-in club for people on pensions and a family club.

The charity is based at Trinity Methodist Church, in Argyll Road. Youth worker Will Carter, 34, said the goal now was to promote the charity’swork and develop community links.

He said: “We have great facilities, we want to fill the divide and give the power back to the people and let them decide what to do.

“We are trying to get out there now and we have things in the pipeline to spend the money on.”

Also getting a slice of the funding is Pitsea charity Signpost and St Stephen’s Community Trust, in Purfleet.

Signpost has received £25,000 to deliver weekly coffee mornings and workshops to address unemployment and isolation, while St Stephen’s has been awarded £35,917 for a weekly youth club offering young people aged 11 to 19 a safe place to socialise.
