Police are continuing their investigations at both locations but are satisfied that they are not seeking any further suspects in connection with this incident.

However detectives are still seeking any witnesses who may have observed any part of the incidents.

They want to talk to anyone who remembers seeing the black old-style Land Rover at any time between 9.00am and 10.30am this morning.

Any witnesses are asked to contact detectives at the Brentwood Major Investigation team on 101.

Southend in particular is not getting "worse", violent crime UK wide is and southend is a reflection of that, take the taxi fare dodgers from the lovely ashington or the serial killer lady from st albans, if you review news UK wide you will see the same stories everywhere. The really concerning thing is that southend is a relatively safe place, which is why stories like this are un common and shocking.

the 14 disastrous years of Labour made it so much easier for criminals. All the soft soap, pc and "human rights" made it so the victims were the ones that could be arrested for defending their property.

Sadly, the Tories have allowed it to continue.

Couldn't get a fag paper between all the political parties. All the same. All soft on crime.

There's even one that posts on this website - and revels in it.

That's what you get for allowing the dregs of humanity to post under noms de plume....

My son was stabbed over 10 times in an unprovoked attack in Westcliff 5 years ago. We are just an average family, it was not a domestic, crime or drug related attack. I feel for the families of the victims; every time I read a story like this I feel physically sick. My son has just recently been able to return to work but is still receiving counselling for PTSD. These stories are only in the news for a few days, people make flippant comments or get on their political soapbox; then return to their daily lives.Talk to each other, make sure no one in your family carries a knife "just because others do" The fact is our town IS getting more violent.

How terrible for your son - and in an unprovoked attack too.

I hope he gets better everyday.

Closing the station to the public wont change service. It will just mean the public can't walk in off the street. You more often than not get drunks who are having an argument about something stupid, people asking for a cheeky lift home as they spent their taxi / train money (or missed the last train) people asking for directions..etc... The front office isn't really needed as we have 999 and 101.
But yes I haven't heard of this plan either.
