AN ELDERLY woman has been left homeless after her home caught alight in the early hours.
Four fire crews from Rayleigh Weir, Leigh and Hawkwell were called to a fire in the roof of two semi-detached bungalows in Fernwood, Hadleigh at around 6am this morning.
When officers arrived at the scene the incident commander reported the roof was completely alight and the ground floor and kitchen was also affected.
The blaze was extinguished by around 7:25 however firefighters remained on site until 8:45am to ensure no hot-spots remained.
No one was injured but a 75-year-old woman has been left homeless.
