Canvey man arrested on suspicion of being a loan shark
A SUSPECTED loan shark was arrested on suspicion of illegal money lending.
The 31-year-old from Canvey was arrested by the Illegal Money Lending Team working with Essex County Council trading standards in a raid at an address on the island.
Officers also seized paperwork and a considerable amount of cash from the home.
The suspect is in custody being questioned by officers.
Essex County Councillor Roger Walters, cabinet member for trading standards, said: “Essex County Council has been working extensively with the England Illegal Money Lending Team to assist in the battle against loan sharks and illegal money lending activity in Essex.”
