A CHARITY has donated much-needed equipment to Southend Hospital to help patients with breathing difficulties.

Breathe Easy Southend has given five nebulisers to benefit patients on Eleanor Hobbs ward.

The nebulisers will be used to administer medication in the form of a mist, which is then inhaled into the lungs.

Breathe Easy Southend is a local group, which supports people affected by lung conditions, as well as their families and carers.

Fundraising opportunities are held throughout the year including quiz nights and awareness stands at events, with the money collected going towards a yearly total.

Jan Morrison, secretary of Breathe Easy Southend, said: “We always listen to our supportive members and we knew that the ward was in desperate need of these nebulisers.

“We fundraise throughout the year and like to help our community where we can.”

Penny Peniston, ward manager, said: “We are so grateful for this donation. It really will make a big difference to the way we treat some patients here on the ward.”
