POLICE investigating the burglaries in Rayleigh and Hockley areas last month want to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity at the time.

Thieves conducted a messy search and stole cash and jewellery after forcing the rear conservatory door to break into a house in Aldermans Hill, Hockley, between 9.10am and 1.45pm on Tuesday, February 25.

A second messy burglary took place between midday and 1.15pm on the same day in Hambro Avenue, Rayleigh.

The lock of a door to the rear of the property was forced open, gold and silver jewellery, including necklaces, a ring and a brooch, plus more than £100 in cash were stolen.

Investigating officer, PC Kirsty Morgan of Southend CID, said: "It is quite possible that these burglaries are linked as the two incidents are very similar.

"But we are keeping an open mind and I would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour at either location on the day in question.”

Anyone with information can contact PC Morgan at Southend Police Station on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
