A deserved win for Margate. Billericay just ran out of ideas after the second goal went in.

However, if Poole's penalty had gone in this could have been a very different result.

4:49pm

Good play by Kouassi and Poole drags his shot wide.

4:49pm

Billericay pressing for a late goal but doesn't look like it is coming. Margate have defended very well today.

4:47pm

Four minutes added on at the end of this half.

4:45pm

Allen has been another one who has impressed today. Very calm in possession.

4:44pm

Halle has just been booked for a foul on Allen. He escaped a card for conceding the penalty so can consider himself lucky to be still on!

4:43pm

4:41pm

Margate sub: Tony Phipp is replaced by Anthony Reviere.

4:41pm

4:39pm

The away side look happy to keep possession and run the clock down. Margate are much better than their league position suggests on this performance.

4:36pm

Wishart has been impressive since he came on. Very direct and not afraid to get stuck in.

4:35pm

Ekim with an excellent drive! Stings the keeper's palms and the home side have a corner that is well cleared.

4:34pm

Poole sends a freekick into the box but Bull cmailsm well. Ricay haven't looked like scoring since going two goals down.

4:33pm

4:32pm

4:31pm

Billericay sub: Layne is replaced by Billy Lobjoit.

4:30pm

Allen and Sammoutis link up well and Louis hits a shot narrowly wide! So close to his hat trick.

4:29pm

Billericay have struggled to creat much in this second half. Margate look the most llikely to increase their lead. How costly could that Poole miss be?

4:27pm

Margate sub: Wishart replaces Medley

4:26pm

Did the Margate keeper handle that outside his box? Benjamin looks convinced but nothing given.

4:23pm

The penalty was won by Bodkin. He took a touch past Halle on the halfway line and ran at goal. Halle clipped his heels and it had to be a penalty.

4:22pm

Louis steps up and scores!

4:21pm

Penalty to Margate!

4:21pm

Halle and Dunne are looking more assured against Louis second half. Not giving him any time or space.

4:18pm

Poole still organising the midfield. Not letting the penalty miss affect him.

4:16pm

Seemed a definite penalty. Halle was pushed over by Beckles but Poole couldn't convert.

Benjamin appears to have shaken off that injury and is running the channels early second half.

4:07pm

Layne is offside after a nice ball over the top from Benjamin.

4:05pm

Massive goalmouth scramble! Ekim dinks in a fantastic ball and Halle and Dunne are inches away from diverting home but some terrific defending keeps the away side in front.

Early corner for Billericay.

3:49pm

Billericay Town 0-1 Margate

3:48pm

Away boss "why would anyone want to be a ref?' Got to admit he has a point, officials have come in for a lot of criticism first half.

3:47pm

Ball is swung in and the keeper fails to claim! Beavan with a great chance but the keeper just manages to get down and block.

3:45pm

Three minutes added on.

3:44pm

Referee is having a word with Beavan. He is taking his name for a late challenge on Rents.

3:42pm

Scott flies in with a crunching but fair tackle on the impressive Bodkin.

3:41pm

Gate boss Terry Brown getting involved with the Ricay fans. He thinks the ref is favouring the home side. Benjamin is down receiving treatment.

3:39pm

Benjamin looks to be struggling here. Rubbing his calf. Playing on for now.

3:37pm

3:36pm

It appears Lumley got the slightest touch on the Louis shot. Goal kick was given but if so it was a stunning save.

3:35pm

At the other end Benjamin is inches away from levelling the match after a deep cross just evades him.

3:34pm

Stunning effort from Louis! He runs at Dunne, cuts inside and bends a beautiful shot against the crossbar from 20 yards, deserved a goal.

3:34pm

3:33pm

Brilliant covering from Rents stops Layne breaking through. There are more goals in this match.

3:32pm

Referee Smith is having a word with home skipper Halle. The officials have come in for a lot of flack first half. They are doing the best they can!

3:31pm

Little goal scoring chances for the past ten minutes. Game is being played in midfield.

3:29pm

Margate's turn to press. Bodkin's runs are causing some problems for Rodgers but the Ricay man is up to the challenge this time and clears the danger.

3:28pm

3:27pm

3:26pm

Keeper claims well under pressure from goalscorer Louis.

3:25pm

Rents pumps the ball upfield and Medley wins a corner. Kouassi heads nervously over his own bar.

3:23pm

3:23pm

Scott and Layne link up well but his header lacks power and is easily collected. Pressure growing though.

3:22pm

Great chance for Layne! He is clean through but scuffs his shot and the ball is collected by Bull. Should have scored.

3:20pm

Edwards getting more and more riled as the half wears on. His side have matched the visitors though - only one moment separating the sides. Still a lot of football to play.

3:17pm

Benjamin is working hard in the early stages. He is running Gate skipper Stuart left and right - testing him on his return to competitive action.

3:16pm

Beckles attacks the ball well but his header drifts harmlessly wide.

3:15pm

Stuart has been excellent on his return for Margate. A very vocal presence. Gate break and Nelson's shot is deflected wide for a corner.

3:12pm

The home side have responded well. Layne runs into the right channel and tries to release Ekim but the ball is well marshalled out by Allen.

3:09pm

Really unfortunate for Ricay who had started well. Bodkin ran at Rodgers, cut inside before hitting a hard shot straight at Lumley. however the keeper can only push it to Louis who heads home from close range.

3:08pm

Goal Margate! It's Jefferson Louis!

3:08pm

Brilliant link up play between Benjamin and the nippy Kouassi. Ball cleared.

3:07pm

Ref blows up and demands a retake. Some pushing an shoving between Beavan and Allen. Retake comes to nothing.

3:05pm

Edwards is enraged by that decision, or lack of one. Poole now has a chance to whip in a freekick from the right.

3:05pm

Massive penalty shout for Ricay! Great run down the left by Kouassi sees the ball fall to Benjamin eight yards out. His shot is destined for the net but is blocked at point blank range by Stuart! Was an arm used? Certainly looked like it.

3:03pm

Edwards is barking instructions to Layne early on. The forward has two in his last two games. He is causing Rents some early problems with his direct running.

3:02pm

Margate have started on the front foot. Phipp in midfield is a very big lad. Strong presence early on.

3:01pm

New Lodge pitch is pretty good condition this afternoon. Some bare patches down the far side but a good surface none the less.

2:59pm

The visitors kick off. Shooting right to left.

2:57pm

Teams are out.

2:29pm

Team news to follow from a warm and sunny New Lodge.

2:28pm

Good afternoon and welcome to the Echo's live text updates from Billericay Town vs Margate in this Ryman Premier Division clash.

The match comes only four days after Ricay suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of their rivals Canvey and Craig Edwards will be desperate for his side to get back to winning ways and look for as high a league finish as possible. With six of Ricay's next seven games at New Lodge a decent run of form could see them challenge for the play-offs.

Margate, five points worse off at this stage (having played two more games than Billericay), are missing two key players for this clash. Centre back pairing Charlie Wassmer and John Beales are unavailable, due to suspension and injury respectively, meaning a back line reshuffle will be in order for the Kent side. Defender Jamie Stuart is available after recovering from a broken hand.

The Gate will be looking for their first win in a month this afternoon and have only picked up three wins in their last 15 league outings.
Billericay have won four and lost four of their last eight games and won the reverse fixture 2-1 in December.
