THE Visteon pensioners are celebrating after Ford agreed to a multi-million pound deal to settle claims for losses.

The ex-employees have been fighting Visteon’s parent company, Ford, for compensation since 2009 when the firm – which had a plant in Christopher Martin Road, in Basildon – went into administration.

The All Party Parliamentary Group, chaired by South Basildon and East Thurrock MP Stephen Metcalfe, have held debates in the House of Commons on the matter and have supported the Visteon Pension Action Group in the fight for their pensions.

Mr Metcalfe said: “I am delighted to hear that Ford are living up to their responsibilities and doing the right thing. This is fantastic news for VPAG and for Visteon pensioners across the UK and I would like to congratulate VPAG for their hard fought campaign."
