A CAR smash has blocked Rochford Road and is causing delays in both directions.

The accident, near the Eastwoodbury Crescent junction by Southend Airport, involved a black Renault Megane and a white Volkswagen panel van.

The ambulance service attended after being called at 3.11pm and two people were taken to Southend Hospital.

One suffered an arm and elbow injury, the other was complaining of chest pain, neither injuries were thought to be serious or life threatening.
