STAFF from St Clere’s School delivered 22 boxes of food to Thurrock Foodbank.

The food, totalling 176.3kg, was donated by St Clere’s students and staff and will be used to support families across Thurrock who are in crisis or who need help.

The collections were organised by St Clere’s exams officer, Kerry Enever.

She felt compelled to take action after watching the Sports Relief TV documentary “Famous, Rich and Hungry”, which explored the issue of food poverty in the UK.

With the support of headteacher Ashleigh Hughes, Mrs Enever raised the issue with staff and students.

They generously responded by donating a huge variety of nonperishable food items to the collection.

Mrs Hughes said: “I am proud to see how our students and staff have made such a tremendous effort for this community appeal.”
