A SOUTHEND Hospital children’s nurse could be struck off amid claims she demanded a French kiss from a patient and threatened to throw another one out of a window.

Louise Hull, from Southend, who is still employed at the hospital, faces a professional misconduct hearing later this month amid claims she was guilty of a series of inappropriate incidents with patients and relatives over more than three years.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council has charged her with a number of offences dating from January 2007 to June 2010, after complaints by the hospital and a patient’s family.

The latest alleged incident, on June 8, 2010, is said to have involved her allegedly telling one person, known only as Patient C: “If the doctor takes your appendix out and it’s normal, then you owe me two kisses and it has to be tongues.”

She is further accused of warning the same patient: “Well they might take something else out as well” and demanding they “do as you are told”.

In an alleged incident 12 days earlier, on May 27, she is accused of telling Patient B, “If you don’t stop pulling your tubes out, and if these bloody alarms keep going off, I’m going to have to throw you out of the window”.

She also allegedly said to the patient: “It would be all right if these babies had some quality of life, but they don’t”.

A hearing in central London will decide if she committed the claimed offences and then if that means her fitness to practise is affected.

Other charges relate to 2007, when she is said to have twice breached professional boundaries with Patient A and her family by visiting their home in a non-professional capacity on August 30 and September 3.

In January that year, she is also accused of exchanging text messages with an unidentified patient’s father.

The nurse, who qualified in 2003, was disciplined by the hospital after an internal probe, but was allowed to keep her job after it referred the case to the Nursing and Midwifery Coucnil..

A hospital spokesman said: “We cannot comment as the case is ongoing.”

If found guilty after an expected three-day hearing, she could be struck off, suspended, given a warning, forced to undergo training, or placed on restricted duties.

Ms Hull was unavailable for comment.
