A MAN who started raising money for charity after losing his sister to an undiagnosed heart condition, hit his cash target by organising a charity football match.

Ross Kerwood, 21, lost sister, Jenny, in 2012 to Bland- White-Garland syndrome, a rare heart condition which affects one person in 300,000.

She was just 22.

He organised a football match and fete at Billericay Town FC on Saturday to raise money for the charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young, raising £2,080 as the team he picked for the event beat Team Olly 2-0.

The proceeds of the match will be pooled with £5,500 raised by Tim Butt, who cycled around South America for the charity.

The cash will fund a heart screening session for local people at the club’s Blunts Wall Road ground later this year.
