POLICE are searching for the owner of a stolen bike.

Officers discovered the Carrera Zelos limited edition 2013 road bike after searching a Basildon home as part of an investigation.

Investigating officer Lee Baptist said: "We believe this bike, similar to the one in the picture, has been stolen and I am keen to find its rightful owner. It is currently suspected that the bike was stolen in the Basildon area at sometime between Thursday April 10 and Sunday April 13 and if anyone believes it is theirs they can contact me at Basildon Police Station on 101.”

A 14-year-old Basildon boy was arrested on suspicion of theft following recovery of the bike on Monday, April 14.

He was interviewed at Basildon Police Station and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

It's not worth forking out a load of dosh on a bike as you can never leave it anywhere because there's always some dirtbag lurking in the background waiting to take it ..

The best way to prevent your expensive bike from being stolen is to not buy a lock.

The minute you lock it and leave it somewhere, you're at the mercy of thieves.
