A SHOP celebrated its 90th birthday in style.

Women’s clothing store N Shelley has been in Billericay High Street since 1924 and is still run by the same family.

Last week the shop put on an exhibition of the shop through the decades and also some Twenties dresses which would have been similar to the clothes they would have sold when they first opened.

Sarah Millett, 45, is the third generation of her family to run the store – the great-niece of seamstress founder Norah Shelley – and she invited MP for Basildon and Billericay John Baron to celebrate their special day with a visit.

She said: “It was a really lovely day and we were so pleased Mr Baron could make it.”

The exhibition also showcased Essex clothing throughout the past nine decades, and told the story of N Shelley, which survived the depression of the Thirties, and the war-torn years of the Forties.
