FOUR police officers were injured after a fight broke out between 30 people inside a nightclub.

Police rushed to Talk, in Lucy Road, Southend, after reports of two men fighting inside the club.

Around 30 people were drawn into the brawl.

Four police officers were injured while they dispersed the fighters. Their injuries were not serious although they did receive treatment from paramedics.

Two members of the club’s door staff were also injured in the fight.

DI Julie Gowen, of Southend CID, said: "We would like to hear from anyone inside the club who may have seen what happened, especially those people who may have seen the assaults on the police officers and door staff.

“This incident ruined what was probably a nice night out for the majority of people with police officers and club staff being injured as a result."

It happened at 2am on Sunday.

Three 25-year-old men from London, a 40-year-old man from London, a 19-year-old man from London, an 18-year-old man from London and a 27-year-old woman from London were all arrested at the scene.

They are being questioned at Southend Police Station.

Anybody with any information is asked to contact Southend CID on Essex Police 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

My sentiments exactly - then they can pay for their treatment in A&E afterwards.

Sick and tired of brawling idiots. Happens all the time in the OK Corral that is now Rayleigh town centre.

I feel the same way about all idiots engaged in pointless conflict, where ever in the world they may be.

I just wish they'd go and kill each other in the middle of nowhere where the rest of us don't have to watch - or clear up the mess.

l agree in a way, and if the 30 odd other people hadn`t got involved this is what would have happened, they would have been allowed to get on with it, now we have 30 plus injured intead of just two, madness!
But, being a bit of a softie, at times, l don`t like to see people being beaten up, and l would have thought it was the job of the bouncers to break up the fight swiftly, BEFORE other people bacame involved.

Just one doorman would have been powerless to prevent this. As said in my other comment on here we just needed two bouncers who intervened BEFORE this mad riot broke out. But all it needed was to restrain these two men by pulling them away from each other, no need for " smashing mugs" that would make them no better than the fighters, ie brawn rather than brain.

Well, l don`t think beating someone up for beating someone up is an intelligent way to deal with anything, and l don`t admire people who do that.

lf there is a way to restrain someone and you get a result, then good, the way you describe is the way that would lead to other people joining in the fray with MORE injuries of other people who had got drawn into it.
Why use violence when a different approach works better, makes no sense to me and is only used by those too dim to use a different way.

Well pembury we obviously have different views on that, and l am quite happy to leave it like that, we all have different views. The brits approach is usually violence first, questions later, but happily l think that is changing.
