CREWS from Southend fire station were called out three times in the early hours of Monday to separate car fire incidents.

Firefighters were sent out first at 2.20am to St Luke's Road after receiving reports of a Ford Fiesta being alight.

The flames were put out by 2.45am with crews saying the car was totally destroyed and the fire was started deliberately.

An hour later the same firefighters were called to Belle Vue Motors in Southchurch Road after reports of flames being seen in the main courtyard.

After an inspection of the site, it was determined the flames had come from fireworks set off underneath the vehicles and no damage was caused.

At 5.40am reports of a motorcycle on fire were received in Ash Walk with firefighters able to extinguish the flames by 6.10am.

The bike which had been dumped in a ditch was destroyed and damage was also caused to fence panels at neighbouring properties in Pleasant Road.

It's not pranks it's arson. If you have a car then you will be paying for the pranks with higher insurance. Also there is a cost for having the fire brigade being called out. I don't like paying for these pranks

That's my bike they stole. I now have to get a second job to pay for what they did to my personal property. Stealing it from outside my house and setting fire to it in a ditch is not a prank is it. If I ever found out who did this I would set fire to them.

You can tell it wasn't your property stolen and then set fire to in the name of boredom and fun. What a stupid word to use "pranks"
People should be able to leave their vehicles outside their property without errant youngsters taking and destroying them.
I played pranks when I was younger although I don't recall stealing and commiting arson being involved. My four year old knows not to take things that don't belong to him.
Let's hope these absolute waste of space losers are caught and made to pay for their 'pranks' I for one would like to sleep soundly at night without worrying about bored youths damaging property that I work hard to pay for.
