UKIP has topped the European Election poll across South Essex.
The Eurosceptic party achieved 45 per cent of the vote in Basildon borough, 46 per cent in Thurrock and 47 per cent in Castle Point.
The Conservatives trailed in second place in Rochford, Southend, Basildon and Castle Point while Labour finished second in Thurrock.
In Thurrock, the Ukip vote was more than double that achieved by the Conservatives.
In a disastrous performance for the Lib Dems they were in fifth behind the Green Party in Southend, Basildon and Rochford, while they came sixth in Thurrock and Castle Point.
The East of England region as a whole has returned 3 Ukip, 3 Conservative and 1 Labour members of the Eurpoean Parliament (MEPs).
Ukip, who picked up councillors across south Essex last week, will further believe in their chances at the general election after the results.
