A BOWLS club which almost folded after the closure of a Corringham social club has found a new home.
Pegasus Bowls Club, which had played at the Pegasus Sport and Social Club in Herd Lane, Corringham, has moved to Billet field .
The club, which has 50 members, looked doomed when the Pegasus club closed last month.
With the help of Thurrock Council though, the bowls club, which is 55 years old, is now ready to start the new season.
The future of their former home remains uncertain, but it is thought a Malaysian consortium is closing in on a deal which could see the site redeveloped as a hotel.
Gil Moore, committee member, said: “The old aged pensioners have done it. We’ve refurbished it a bit and made it liveable.
“We’ve got an open day on Sunday, June 22, and would love for new members to join us.
We’re especially short on women and social and beginner players.”
Anyone interested in joining should call Mrs Moore on 01375 674354.
