Kelly Ward, 31, of North Avenue, admitted assault. She pulled a woman’s hair causing her to fall on the floor on May 3. On the same day she also used threatening or abusive words or behaviour causing harassment, alarm or distress. She was made subject of a community order and must go on a building skills programme for 22 days. She was ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Lee Wilder, 46, of Shaftesbury Avenue, Southend, admitted drink driving.

He drove a blue Renault Megane on Cherry Orchard Way, Southend, at nearly twice the legal limit. He was fined £350 and ordered to pay £350 victim surcharge, plus £85 costs. Wilder was also disqualified from holding a licence for 18 months.

Harry Flett, 20, of Nursery Gardens, Laindon, admitted stealing £4345 from a woman between December 23 and January 1 this year. He was given a 15- week prison sentence, suspended for a year, and ordered to pay a £80 victim surcharge.

Darren Dowsett, 28, of Luncies Road, Pitsea, was found guilty of driving a car without wearing a seatbelt. He drove the Ford Transit van on July 29 last year in Basildon.

He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge.

Stephanie Jones, 19, of Thorney Bay Caravan Park, Canvey, admitted theft, failing to surrender to police and breaking a community order. She stole DVDs worth £79 from Sainsbury’s on April 28. She failed to surrender to court on May 13 and again stole £145 worth of Blue Ray DVDs from Tesco in Basildon. She was made subject of another community order for a year and must participate in a 15-day course.

Darren White, 35, of Avon Way, Shoebury, admitted theft and breaking a community order. He stole two bottles of wine worth £10 from Iceland on May 6, two bottles of wine worth £15 from BP and Marks and Spencer in West Street, Southend on May 12, two bottles of wine worth £9 from Tesco on May 19. He was given a six-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

He must also go on an alcohol treatment course for six months.

Keith Miller, 54, of Wells Gardens, Basildon, admitted driving while using a mobile. He drove his Skoda on Pitsea Road, Basildon, while using the device on October 12 last year. He was fined £183 and ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge, plus £90 costs.

Stacey Bristow, 23, of Leigh Broadway, admitted drink-driving.

She drove a Ford Puma in Pavilion Drive, Leigh, on May 4. She was fined £300, banned from driving for a year and ordered to pay £30 a victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Ricky Croshner, 31, of Chancellor Road, Southend, admitted stealing three packs of meat worth £41 from Marks and Spencer in Southend on April 14, plus two bottles of Hugo Boss Just perfume worth £96 from Debenhams in Colchester, on April 23. He was handed a community order and a two-week curfew order, and ordered to undergo treatment for drug dependency.
