I caught a whopper...it was nearly as big as me

Echo: I caught a whopper...it was nearly as big as me I caught a whopper...it was nearly as big as me

THIS is the one that didn’t get away!

A boy shocked his parents after he caught a fish almost as big as him during a trip with his dad.

Aaron Ebdon, 11, who lives on Canvey, was enjoying a fishing outing with his dad, Paul, at Kings Park, Canvey, when he surprisingly caught a catfish.

According to Aaron’s mum, Sonya, the fish weighed 38 pounds and was four-and-ahalf feet long.

Mrs Ebdon, 47, said: “He shocked everybody. People actually came out of their homes to see what was going on. The fish was very big.

“Two other people rushed over to help bring the fish out as they could see he was struggling with it. The fish was as big as him.”

The fish was later placed back into the water.

What on earth was the point of publishing photos that did not include the fish when the original, of the lad with the fish, was available? This is ludicrous, especially when one of the photos is of the lad holding the photo of himself with the fish. Very amateur, Echo, very amateur, indeed.

Shame they did take a picture of the by and another adult holding up the fish, but then keeping it out of the water too long is distressing fro the fish.

All the local fishers will now be there trying to catch it fro their supper!

Good that he put it back in the water!
