A DRUMMER from a Sixties rock band will play a series of concerts at a Hadleigh church.

Bobby Harrison, the original drummer of Procol Harum, will play a concert of country blues and rock at St Barnabas Church, Church Road, Hadleigh, on Saturday, June 21.

Singer songwriter Bobby, who plays drums and blues harmonica, will be in concert with Danny Rivers and Sam Wright. Bobby, whose autobiography, Journey to Freedom, focuses on how Christianity changed his life 14 years ago, lives in Hadleigh.

Bobby said: “The pop business is hard to handle, I was at a crossroads and the Southend Christian Fellowship brought me through.

“I now like to perform in churches and help raise money for various charities.”

His concert is a prelude to Freedom an informal service of contemporary worship, for all ages at St Barnabas Church.

There is an open invitation to the 10.30am service, which will be staged on the fourth Sunday of each month, beginning on Sunday, July 27. Live music will be provided by a five-piece worship band, including Bobby.

Tickets for the 7.30pm concert on Saturday are available on the night on the door and cost £10.
