POLICE raided a house to uncover cocaine, cannabis and a cache of weapons.

Officers battered down the door of the house in Appletree Way, in Wickford, as part of a crackdown on criminals operating across the borough.

Once inside, officers scoured the property and discovered three cannabis plants, a large amount of herbal cannabis, and cocaine ready for street sale.

Police also found a number of weapons, including machetes, £1,500 in cash, scales and plastic bags.

A 35-year-old man arrested during the raid is on police bail, pending further inquiries. PC Asa Smith, from the Wickford neighbourhood policing team, said his team would come down hard on anyone dealing drugs.

He said: “We won’t tolerate drug activity and associated criminality.

“My message to the public is this – give us the information and we will do the rest.

“Cannabis is a class B drug, if people are going to grow and supply it they need to understand the consequences.”

Anyone concerned about drug dealing in their community can contact officers at Essex Police on 101.
