POLICE continue to hunt for a mask-wearing man after an attempted armed robbery in Westcliff earlier this month.

Colliers newsagents in Hamley Court Road was targeted by a man holding a black handgun and wearing a Halloween style wolf mask at 2.15pm on June 8.

The man, described as white, aged between 17 and 21 year old, who spoke with a Southend accent, is 5ft 6ins tall and of skinny build, was wearing a grey Adidas tracksuit.

He pointed the gun at the 18-year-old shopkeeper and demanded money, however he refused to hand over any cash and following a brief confrontation the man left empty handed, running down Anderley Road into Ceylon Road.

Police are keen to hear from two men seen walking past the shop at the time of the crime, to find out if they saw anything.

Detectives also want to hear from anyone in Ceylon Road or the car park at around 2.15pm and saw a man in a grey tracksuit.
