A RAWRETH nursery is on a recycling mission, to help create responsible citizens.

The Day Nursery, in Church Road, is teaching children to play their part in being environmentally friendly.

While the centre already composts some waste from the kitchen, recycles cardboard and reuses toys and books donated by parents, the plan is to increase their eco work to set a good example for the children.

Recycling games and stories will also be used to get the message across in a fun way.

Glenda Mitchell, nursery owner, said: “We want the children to be more active recyclers.

“We have invested a lot of money in buying colour-coded bins so the children can practice putting the waste materials in the correct one.

“Children learn how important it is to take care of our environment for themselves and for future generations.”

“As a business, we aim to become fully electronic by early 2015, although we have already passed many milestones toward that goal by communicating daily with our parents and carers electronically and our children’s progress is tracked electronically.”
