Police investigating knife point robbery in Laindon

A MAN robbed a newsagent at knife point this morning.

Polcie were called to Martins Newsagents in the Laindon Centre at about 7.30am this morning.

The robber threatened the cashier with a knife and forced him to hand over a quantity of cash and cigarettes, Specialist forensic teams have spent the morning examining the scene.

The suspect is white, approximately 5ft 9ins tall and was wearing sunglasses.

He ran off towards Laindon Link.

Anyone with information in connection with this robbery is urged to contact detectives at Basildon police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
