SOUTHEND’s voluntary lifeboat crew was called to two emergencies on Canvey yesterday.

The Southend RNLI crew was called at about 2.30pm to a dismasted catamaran off of the Island.

The safety boat took the vessel under tow to the Canvey Island Yacht Club.

A short while later, the crew was called to a sailing cruiser which was running short of fuel at about 3.15pm.

Two people were aboard and the vessel was escorted back to Smallgains Creek, Canvey.

One Needed the other needless, losing a mast is an emergency, lucky they weren't out in the North sea, though never a surprise regarding these motor cruisers, of which are a liability in anything else than a duck pond, draining valuable resources away from the genuine, on the reason of being low on fuel.

The RNLI were called to the demasted catamaran but we're not needed as the club had its own rescue boat already towing the catamaran in when they got there.

Yes typical Echo inaccuracy, this was not an emergency as clubs safety boat already in attendance and they did not have to take any action.
