A PAIR of German shepherds wowed the judges and beat competition from hundreds of pets to win the Echo’s Pet Factor 2014.
Mother and daughter pooches Luna and Winny scooped the top prize to be crowned victors in this year’s fiercely-fought competition.
Luna, six, and Winny, four, won a pet treats hamper from Bubbles Pet Care, in Leigh, and a full groom voucher from Vanity Fur, in Leigh.
No stranger to competition, Winny was once named prettiest bitch at the Robin Hood Country Show.
Owner and professional dog walker Simon Reed, 30, from Westcliff, said: “I was very excited to win.
“We rarely do well when it comes to competitions on looks, so I was very pleased.
“They will be treated to the groom on their birthdays in August.”
Coming a close second was Toby the bassett hound who won a pet toy goodie bag from Bubbles and a cake vouchers from Vanity Fur.
Owner Kayleigh Weedon, 26, from Basildon, said: “I was really pleased. We have never entered a competition before, but we might enter some more now! He loves the toys from his goodie bag and I’m going to order a cake for his birthday.”
Sixteen-month-old Missy, a doug de bordeax, and owner Kash Leanette, 29, from Canvey, won the third prize of £10 gift vouchers from Bubbles and Vanity Fur.
The winners were selected from hundreds of entries who texted in a picture of their pet to be considered for the title.
