THE Southend Robin Hood Country show this year is dedicated to damsels in distress and rascal merrymen.

The two-day event over the weekend, at Garon Park, will feature jousting tournaments and horse-back stunts, thanks to the Stampede Stunt Display Team.

There will also be quad bike and motor-cross stunt displays with the Jason Smythe Adrenaline Tour.

Visitors will get the chance to have a go at paintball, laser quest, water zorbing and archery, with advice on how to shoot a bow and arrow just like Robin Hood.

The event is one of Southend’s largest family fun weekends with dog shows, entertainers, shopping and live music among the attractions. There will also be birds of prey displays with Berkley Owls and Flight of the Falcons, as well as gun dog training, practical horsemanship and ferret demos, and back by popular demand, the hilarious Dog and Duck Show.

Shopaholics will find solitude among the broad array of trade stands, with products available to buy in Maid Marion’s Lifestyle Village, Friar Tuck’s Food and Drink Court, Little John’s Craft and Gift Hall, the Countryman’s Walk and All About Dogs zone.

The event will host have-a-go activities, including K9 Aqua Sports, Flyball and Timed Sprints, as well as agility courses and fun dog shows where the best pooches can win rosettes and trophies.

The show is organised by Aztec Events.

Director Matthew Upson said: “Our show draws a crowd from miles around because we have a fantastic line-up that offers something for all ages and interests, from historical re-enactments to flying falcons, rare breed farmers to families looking for an entertaining day out.

“Southend Robin Hood Country Show really delivers a great weekend bursting with unusual sights, sounds and activities.

It’s an experience you won’t forget in a hurry.”
