BASILDON Council has said services could be affected as staff go out on strike next week.

Residents with bin collections on Thursday, July 10 have been told to put out their rubbish for collection as normal, with a notice going out if the collection is cancelled.

Although the council plans to have as normal a day as possible, it has warned some servives could be affected.

A council spokesman, said: “While we will do our best to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum, delivery of some services on the day such as refuse collection may not be possible.

“In most cases we will not know with certainty which services will be affected until the day of the strike but as soon as we have any information it will be posted on the council’s website.

“As it may take longer than usual for calls to the council to be answered on Thursday, and as less staff may be available to offer face to face assistance, where possible residents are asked to make use of the website to make payments, submit application forms or report issues.

“Residents are also advised to put their rubbish out as usual by 7.30am, as we will be unable to assess the level of disruption until the morning of Thursday 10 July.

“If we are unable to carry out collections full details about changes to collection days will be published on the council’s website, www.basildon.gov.uk.”
