A CHARITY football match, in memory of a teenager who died after an epileptic seizure, was a great success.
Ben Belverstone, 18, from Southend, died last month. He had been training for a career in painting and decorating at Southend’s Prospects College.
His devastated friends and tutors were determined to do something worthwhile in his memory so organised a tutor versus students match in the college grounds and a prize raffle to raise funds for epilepsy and cancer charities.
After the match, Shaun Thrower, who was Ben’s tutor, said: “It went really well. There were a lot of people out of breath though.
“The tutors won 5-2. We won’t know how much we’ve raised until next week as we are still raffling prizes, but it’s been a great success in Ben’s memory.”
