Trollies for free

First published in News

MORRISONS are getting rid of all trolley locks at its Canvey and Hadleigh stores.

Customers have called for easier and quicker shopping trips at the Northwick Road and London Road stores. A team visited the store to update trolley fixtures.

This included removing the need to insert a £1 coin or token to release a trolley from its bay.

Mark Easton, the general manager of Morrisons Canvey, said: “Customers in this area have told us that they want a quicker shop. The removal of trolley locks is just one of the many improvements we are making to our store.”

'Trollies for Free' is the headline.

they are free anyway, not a bad advert for struggling Morrisons though, must have a buddy at the Echo.

Even better if it was loaded with goodies.

Quite agree. There is nothing more annoying than wandering up and down the checkout queues whilst there are more unmanned tills than manned.

The Hadleigh staff of Morrisons are great but company policy on staffing levels is losing them customers' goodwill. Lidls and others are waiting and eager to scoop up shoppers.

Listen up Morrisons otherwise free trollies will seem just a gimmick.

Customers want a quicker shop? I am sure that not putting a refundalbe pound in a trolley will make it so much quicker that they'll be flocking to the store. Then of course the half-manned checkout queues will be even longer and of course that will mean more time queuing than the trolley release itself.........

Are they out of their minds?
Can't wait for Canvey village and the roads in Hadleigh to be a log jam of trollies!

If Morrisons' customers on Canvey want an "easier and quicker shopping trip" why not arrange a mini bus service from Charfleets to and from the store?
After all, if Tesco can run a double decker from Pitsea to Canvey Point, there must be money in it

They may be free in the sense that you get your coin back when you return the trolley to the trolley bay, but it is a nuisance. I stopped going to Morrisons when they introduced such trollies.

Wow, far more things to get worried about going on around you than to get the hump over putting a coin in a slot to release your wheels i mean it takes an extra 10 seconds out of ones life on each visit as long as you are prepared with a coin/token, so does this means they have regained your custom?
