AN UNEMPLOYED man is celebrating a £100,000 scratchcard win – after popping out for a pint of milk.

Sonny Williamson, 29, from Canvey, is looking forward to returning to college to train as a plumber or electrician after his surprise National Lottery win.

He bought the Rainbow 2014 Scratchcard from the Texaco garage, in Somnes Avenue, for £1, so he could get some change to pay his mum back for some late-night snacks.

He had gone along to the petrol station with her because she needed a pint of milk.

Mr Williamson, who lives with his parents and girlfriend, said: “I started to scratch the numbers off in the car and when I had two £100,000 signs in a row I initially mistook it for £100, which would have been nice in itself. When I scratched off the third, I couldn’t believe it. I think I went into shock.

“I got mum to check it for me and then woke up my girlfriend when I got home for her to check it, too. It wasn’t really until I spoke to the National Lottery that I began to believe it.

“I actually started to shake when I saw my bank balance on the cash machine. It really was like finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

“I’ve had a challenging few months looking for a new job, but my family have been there for me throughout, so my first priority will be to treat my parents and my grandparents.”

He is also planning to splash out on a holiday to Mexico with his beloved girlfriend, and wants to join the gym – a luxury he could not afford before.

Mr Williamson wants to put some of the money towards his own house.

He added: “I used to play a lot of football, but I’m not very fit now, so I’m going to join a gym.

“All in all, this money will help me get my life back on track to where I want it to be and hopefully I’ll be able to set some money aside towards a house.

“I’ve bought a couple of bottles of expensive aftershave and I’ll be buying some new clothes too, but what I’d really like is to go on holiday.

“I went to Mexico seven years ago and loved it, so I’d like to take my girlfriend there as soon
