HE WON'T be bringing any second hand cars on his visit, but Only Fools and Horses actor John Challis thinks Basildon would have been Boycieメs kind of town.

The star will be joining onscreen wife Marlene, played by Sue Holderness, at the Eastgate Centre next month.

People will be able to pose with the pair for photos as well as snap up autographs.

Mr Challis, 71, said: "I would have thought Basildon would have been Boycieメs kind of territory - his stomping ground.

"He probably would have had his car showroom there full of wonderful vehicles.

"We canメt wait. Marlene will probably be dressed up to the nines in something ridiculous."

The pair will be bringing an exhibition of Only Fools and Horses garb with them.

Fans will be able to have their photo taken while falling through the Nagメs Head bar in a tribute to David Jasonメs character Del Boy.

And you will also be able to have a go at catching a chandelier ヨ recreating another classic scene where Del Boy and Rodney miss the priceless light feature, causing it to smash on the floor.

Mr Challis said: "It's a fantastic exhibition.

"We did one at Southend Pier previously and the amount of people who came out was extraordinary.

"People really do love Boycie, almost to the point of confusing him with me.

"A lot of people seem disappointed Iメm not like him, but you just have to say, 'Come along now Marlene' and they go away happy."

Mr Challis has been part of two sequels to the original show.

And while he said he would always be up for another, it would be about finding the right script.

He said: "We sadly lost John Sullivan, who had written all the scripts. It's a terrible shame.

"People really do love Only Fools and Horses, which is incredible really when you think we started in 1981.

"Itメs great to have been a part of it because it makes so many people happy."

Boycie and Marlene will be at the Eastgate Centre on August 30 and 31.

Entry is £10, or £20 for a family of four.
