WE’RE spoiled for choice at Village Green this weekend, but I’ve been carefully sifting through and circling a few of the less obvious things you won’t want to miss.

First choice is Man Like Me. If you don’t think you’ve heard of them, yes you have! You know the Ikea advert?

The one where a bunch of hipsters are congregating in the kitchen at the party? Yeah, you’ve got it, they are the ones who did that cover of You’ll Always Find Me In the Kitchen at Parties, originally by Jona Lewie.

Anyhow, they are on the Village School stage at 6.50pm.

It’s got a good vibe for me that Village School stage actually and I’ll have trouble pulling myself away from it.

Earlier on in the day, on the same stage, is Shlomo, a beatboxer, who creates a whole song purely from using his mouth, clever looping machines, launch pads and stuff.

He is on at 4.20pm, before Scroobius Pip vs Dan le Sac.

If I had a gun to my head and had to pick one more before they came to take me away, I’d go for Velvet Morning, on at 3.45pm in the Village Hall bit (the Park View cafe).

I’ve championed these psyche-soaked young ’uns since I strolled past the alternative stage a couple of years ago at Leigh Folk Festival, and heard their hypnotic droney vibes coming out to get me.
