A SCRIPTWRITER whose film won the backing of celebrities and fans alike is aiming for further success.

Kevin Mears, along with director Simon Frith, launched a Kickstarter online campaign, where supporters pledged £2,000 to fund the ten-minute film, Eva’s Legacy.

On Sunday they reached their target with the help of donations and celebrities such as James Buckley, who plays Jay in the Inbetweeners, and RudeTube presenter Alex Zane retweeting them.

Mr Mears, 29, of Fryerns, Basildon, said: “I am really excited, this is the first time I have written something that is going to be made.

“We have had great response from friends, family and a lot on social media.

“It must be about seven to eight months work, I started writing it when my daughter was just two-months- old and any moment she was asleep I found time to write.”

The crew, including Adam Singodia who worked on 24, began filming at the Fennes Georgian manor house, in Braintree, on Tuesday, led by Southend based Mr Frith.

They are all giving their time voluntarily and were hoping to have the scenes finished by the end of the next day.

The film, which is likened to the Sixth Sense or the Others, follows the story of Eva who gives up her home for it to be turned into a children’s home, but a dark secret from her past is unveiled during an interviewwith a local film crew.

Mr Mears hopes the film will be finished by late autumn and will be entered into festivals, including the Southend-on-Sea Film Festival and Borderlines Film Festival.
