THE GRAND Hotel pub in Leigh has been the subject of much conversation over the years, and now, of course, it’s finally being redeveloped.

Artist Annabel Dee, who runs the nearby Miss Annabel Dee gallery, wants to hold an art exhibition – A Grand Exhibition to be precise – dedicated to the iconic building.

She is asking for all sorts of artists, be they painters, photographers, poets, writers or other, to submit their ideas or work to her in any kind of medium, for the show to be held in September.

She said: “I think it is a great opportunity for all kinds of artists to get together and put up anything they have that reminds them of the Grand.

“It was such an iconic building and I’m sure so many people will have all sorts of memories, art or photos of it, from across the years.

“I moved to the area when I was 12 and am now 28, so I missed out on all the bands and things, but I do have lots of friends who have great stories.

“They remember how it was, everyone sitting outside in the summer. I think this will be a really great exhibition.”

A Grand Exhibition welcomes all sorts of ideas.

You can either pop into Annabel’s studio in 153 Leigh Road, to chat about them, or get in touch with here on 07989 155473, or simply submit your work to missannabeldee@gmail.com.

Annabel added: “The exhibition will take place in the gallery, which is so close to the Grand you can pretty much see it, so that will be nice.

“It will be great to really capture the essence of it.”

The date of the exhibition is yet to be confirmed, although the deadline for submissions is Saturday August 23. Visit missannabeldee.co.uk
