A TEENAGER is throwing herself out of a plane in memory of her grandad.

Rhiannan Jamieson, 16, of Danbury Downs, Basildon, will go up to 10,000 ft on Saturday before spiralling to the ground in a tandem jump.

So far, the De La Salle school pupil has raised £1,400.

The jump is in memory of her grandad, Bob Jamieson, 67, who died from bowel cancer in April.

Mum Tara Jamieson said: “She really wanted to do it last year, because her grandma was fighting cancer, but she was too young – she had to be 16.

“So, she decided to do it this year. Her gran has made a fantastic recovery, but then her grandad found out he had bowel cancer and only had months to live.

“He sadly only lasted two days. Rhiannan decided it would be appropraite to do it for him. Bob was in the Echo several times and loved it. We know he’d be happy to be in it once again.”
