A KINDHEARTED schoolboy is set to run 12 miles in memory of his friend.
Taylor Downes, 11, from Canvey will take on the challenge today to raise money for the Danny Green Fund.
The fund was set up in memory of 11-year-old island youngster, Danny Green, who died in July 2012 of brain and spinal cancer.
A determined Taylor first told his mum he wanted to run a marathon for the charity, after being inspired by Leigh Beck Junior School classmate Alfie Wellington, 12, who raised more than £400 by shaving his hair off for the fund.
A keen sportsman Taylor hopes the challenge will raise £500 for the fund, which was set up by Danny’s family to help young sufferers of the condition he had – posterior fossa syndrome which can leave sufferers with a loss of speech and an inability to hold up their head or walk.
