Police have closed part of Southend Road in Wickford due to flooding. 

Both sides of the road, underneath the railway bridge, have been closed folllowing heavy rain during this afternoon's storm. 

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Police are currently at the scene of highways disruption under the bridge on Southend Road, Wickford.

"Police were contacted shortly after 1pm today following reports of flooding and a white Renault van stuck. Police have notified the Council and the Highways Agency."

Diversions are in place.
