A MAN has been charged with perverting the course of justice in relation to the death of stabbing victim Hassan Mohammed in a Southend street.

Vasile Iftinca, 40 of Old Southend Road, Southend, was charged on Friday, July 25 and appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court the same morning.

Iftinca, who was visibly upset in the dock as his wife, who is five and a half months pregnant, looked on from the public gallery, was remanded in custody.

He will appear at Basildon Crown Court on October 24.

Mr Mohammed, 24, of Camberwell, London, died in hospital after receiving two stab wounds in an incident in York Road at around 7pm on Monday, July 7.
