A MAN suffered serious head injuries after he was jumped by two hooded thugs.

The 31-year-old victim was hit over the back of the head by two men as he was walking in Durham Road in Laindon on Friday, July 18.

The victim fell to the floor and his attackers riffled through his pockets.

While he was on the ground he struggled against the two men and they ran off empty handed in the direction of Thornton Drive.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for a dislocated shoulder and needed five staples to the head for a cut.

The attack happened near to the junction of Durham Drive and Cumberland Drive at about 12.15am.

Investigating officer, DC Chris Joslin, of Basildon CID, said: "This was a nasty attack which caused significant injuries to the victim and I want to arrest these two men as soon as possible.

“One of the attackers was wearing a grey hooded top and dark tracksuit bottoms whilst the other one had on a black hooded top with dark tracksuit bottoms.

“Both men were wearing their hoods up to cover their faces.
